Royally Speaking: the fun of royal watching is dying

If you're reading this you probably are a royal fan and if you are a royal fan, you probably know how bad the situation is regarding The Royal Family. Between a prince's friendship with a criminal and a duke & duchess "retiring" from royal life, the royal fandom is in chaos. I wrote a similar article back in december and if I didn't think things could get worst... they did. As some of you might know, I recently went to the hospital feeling a terrible pain in my arm and found out I have tendinitis. Following the doctor's recommendation, I haven't used my phone and computer for four days (and shouldn't be using right now).

These days away from social media were truly a blessing. I started to notice that my days, despite the pain, were much more pleasant and stress free without all the hate and craziness that comes with royal watching. What started as a fun hobby is slowly becoming a source of stress for me and probably for many other people as well.

As I said in other occasions, for Camilla fans, like me, the royal fandom has never been very friendly but sadly over the last couple of months things became a lot worst.

I've never been interested in celebrity culture, not even in my teenage years, because this "celebrity world" was just too shallow for me. The royals, on the contrary, had a fascinating historical background and did fantastic humanitarian work for their country and around the world, which are powerful sources of their magic.

Unfortunately, at least for me, the royal world is becoming more and more like the celebrity world. Groups of fans engaging in a cyber war over who has the best hair, the best clothes, the best project or the best family relationships. Is this truly necessary ? are those things truly important ?

I firmly believe the best way to deal with stans and trolls is to ignore them, not giving them the attention they desperately need but although knowing this is the healthier way to deal with cyber bullying, when you have a very strong moral background is almost impossible to ignore sexist, ageist and racist remarks.

And that's when the stress begins, haters don't listen so it doesn't matter how much you try to explain your point or why their attitude is not okay, they'll keep hating. All this negativity and verbal violence, at some degree ends up affecting you as a person.

Something I (still) don't understand is why some people feel this tremendous hate inside them that they need to humiliate another person to fell better about themselves ? why is so hard to be civil to a fellow human being ? are they so immature that they don't evaluate the effect their nasty words have in somebody else's life ?

I don't expect these questions to be answered as I don't expect this small but loud group of people to stop killing the joy of an entire fandom.

But I do hope to evolve enough as a person to be able to ignore them and stop letting them ruing all the fun of royal watching.

Disclaimer: before some people start to attack me, I just want to clarify that I'm NOT talking about a specific group of fans. This article is about ALL the royal fandom.
